IRIS Document Management adds AI search, OCR and auto-tagging for accounting firms
It consolidates storage, client portals and practice management in one system - and works as a standalone or inside IRIS Firm Management.
IRIS Software Group this week launched IRIS Document Management, a cloud-based system aimed at accountancy practices and professional service firms in the UK and the US. CPA Practice Advisor reports that the product gives firms one place to store, file, find and share client documents, with AI built into the core rather than bolted on afterward.

AI feature WHAT THIS IS |
The three AI-driven features worth noting are plain-language search across PDF, Word, Excel and PowerPoint files; optical character recognition so scanned documents become searchable; and automatic document tagging drawn from a firm's own tag library. Per CPA Practice Advisor's coverage, the system uses AI to read, sort and file client documents as they arrive and keeps them alongside the client record - which is a different model from tools that require staff to manually classify files after the fact.
Firms that already run IRIS Firm Management (IFM) have an additional option: CPA Practice Advisor notes the solution is available as a standalone or as part of an integrated bundle with IFM, and that the IFM integration extends connectivity to third-party platforms including Microsoft Business Central and Apxium. For practices that do not use IFM, the standalone path means no forced platform migration to get the document layer.
The practical question before any demo is whether the AI auto-tagging actually uses a firm's existing taxonomy or requires rebuilding it inside the new system - and how OCR accuracy holds up on the firm's own document archive is worth testing before committing to a full migration.
WHAT TO VERIFY
| Ask whether auto-tagging imports your existing tag library or requires a rebuild from scratch. | |
| Run a sample of your scanned PDFs through OCR before migrating to verify accuracy. | |
| Confirm which features require the IFM bundle versus the standalone plan before pricing a rollout. |
A CRM so smart, it updates itself.
HubSpot's CRM is so smart, it now updates itself. Calls get logged and summarized the moment they end. New leads get researched and a first outreach drafted, automatically. Deals move forward on their own, with next steps flagged before you have to ask.
Even the one repetitive task you've been meaning to fix can now run itself, no code required. Customers using it are already seeing the difference.
This isn't the CRM you have to work hard to figure out. It's the one already working before you log in.
