Kabilio raises €10M to bring AI agents to accounting firms

The agent handles document retrieval and client follow-up over email and WhatsApp - the firm still controls what it does for each client.

Barcelona-based Kabilio closed a €10 million round this week, bringing total funding to €14 million, tech.eu reports. Picus Capital and Visionaries Club led the round - the same two firms that backed the company's earlier pre-seed - with Spain's public technology agency CDTI also participating. The money goes toward a beta launch of an AI accounting agent and the continued build-out of Kabilio Empresas, a shared platform connecting accounting firms with their SMB clients.

The agent is the more consequential part of the story. Tech.eu reports that it is designed to retrieve invoices, reconcile transactions, validate entries, and request missing documents through email and WhatsApp. The existing platform already reads invoices, suggests bookkeeping entries, matches bank transactions, and flags items that need a human look. The agent layer takes that further by acting on the data rather than just organizing it. Per the tech.eu report, accounting firms set the instructions and decide how much the agent can handle per client - Kabilio works only through the firm, not around it.

The growth numbers are worth noting. Tech.eu puts Kabilio's current client base at nearly 500 accounting firms, up from 100 a year ago. That is a fast-moving adoption curve for a vertical SaaS operating inside a profession that has historically moved slowly on new tools. The architecture - an agent scoped by firm rules, acting on behalf of clients - is worth watching as a model regardless of geography.

For practitioners outside Spain, the signal here is not about switching to Kabilio. It is about the design pattern: an agent that sits inside the firm's workflow, operates within firm-defined guardrails, and handles document logistics so accountants are not chasing receipts over WhatsApp manually. If you are evaluating agentic tools this quarter, ask vendors specifically how the agent's scope is configured per client, what it can initiate without human approval, and how its actions are logged for review. Those are the questions that will separate useful from risky.

THE SO-WHAT

Ask Kabilio directly about beta access if you serve SMB clients in Spain and want to evaluate the agent early.

Before any agent demo, confirm: who sets its per-client scope, and where is the action log you can audit?

The firm-controlled, client-scoped architecture is worth benchmarking against any agentic tool you evaluate this quarter.

A CRM so smart, it updates itself.

HubSpot's CRM is so smart, it now updates itself. Calls get logged and summarized the moment they end. New leads get researched and a first outreach drafted, automatically. Deals move forward on their own, with next steps flagged before you have to ask.

Even the one repetitive task you've been meaning to fix can now run itself, no code required. Customers using it are already seeing the difference.

This isn't the CRM you have to work hard to figure out. It's the one already working before you log in.
